Manual Database Configuration

In addition to linking using the Wizard, you can also link database tables and fields manually.

To see which items are not configured, click on the + in the Not Connected node or mark the Show only NOT connected check box.

Unconnected items (both tables and fields) are marked with (X). Items that are connected to a field with the same name are displayed without additional text. Items that are connected to a field with a different name are marked with the "(field name)" listed after the item.

To manually link a table

  1. Right-click on the table item name and select Assign… The following dialog appears:

    Embedded PNG Image Template (Styled)
  2. Click Tables… to populate the drop-down box with the table names of the currently selected database.
  3. Select the appropriate table from the drop-down box and click OK.

After these steps, the NIPO FMS attempts to link fields based on their item names as the Wizard would do.

To manually link a field

  1. Right-click on the field item name and select Assign… Note that you cannot assign fields if the table was not yet connected. The following dialog appears:

    Embedded PNG Image Template (Styled)
  2. Only fields with a matching type are listed. Select the appropriate field from the drop-down box and click OK.

To clear an item right-click on the item and select Clear. Note that if you clear a table, all fields are disconnected, and if you clear the SQL Server connection, all tables and fields are disconnected.

Restart the NIPO FMS Server service to apply all changes.

Note:
If not all fields have been configured, certain features of the NIPO FMS may be disabled.

If you need to manually add fields to the NIPO Fieldwork System database itself, it might be useful to know the type of field that is expected by the NIPO FMS Server. Right-click a field item and select Properties… to review type information.
