Note on System Requirements

For all NIPO Software applications and components listed in this section, ensure that hardware of the system matches the recommended hardware requirements of the operating system on which the software is installed. The hardware requirements of the operating system in use is the recommended configuration to run the NIPO Software components at an adequate performance.

For the central services NIPO CATI / Web Master, NIPO Web Server and NIPO FMS Server, the hardware requirements of the operating system on which the software is installed are to be taken as a starting point for a moderately small call center or web system. The requirements scale with a variety of factors that is different per organization: the number of active surveys, the size of the sample, the complexity of the applied stratification limits, the number of concurrent interviewer connections, the number of concurrent NIPO CAWI connections, the use of automated dialing facilities using power and predictive dialing and the number of connected NIPO FMS and NIPO CATI / Web Manager clients. There is no straightforward rule of thumb on scaling the hardware for optimal performance. For a rough estimate on your requirements, it is recommended to contact the NIPO Software Helpdesk. A sub-par hardware configuration does not cause application malfunction, but it may degrade performance of the NIPO Fieldwork System.
