Cascading Order of Settings

A number of settings described in this section can be configured in several places. The NIPO / CATI Web Master, the survey, and the NIPO CATI Client have a cascading order to decide which configuration is ultimately applied. The override order is listed below.

Cascading order of settings

1. System defaults in the NIPO CATI Client or the NIPO Fieldwork System
2. Settings in the NIPOSYS.INI configuration file of the NIPO CATI Client override the system defaults. Only a limited number of settings are available here.
3. Settings in the NIPO CATI / Web Master configuration override the NIPO CATI Client configuration. Most of these settings can be changed using the NIPO CATI / Web Manager.
4. Settings in the survey configuration file SURVEY.INI override the NIPO CATI / Web Master and NIPO CATI Client configuration. Most of these settings can be configured via the NIPO CATI / Web Manager.
