Nfield update

13 May 2025

On Tuesday, 13 May 2025, we will release a new version of Nfield. This update contains a new feature: Question Median Duration, a new endpoint for importing a Landing page, update to Public API - extended support for basic token authentication, and some smaller improvements.

New Feature: Question Median Duration

We have added a new feature called “Question Median Duration” to help you better assess the quality of interviews.

What is it?

The question median duration of an interview is the median value of question lapse times as recorded in the audit log for that interview. If the median question duration is below the minimum or above the maximum configured values, the respondent is flagged as 'needs to be checked' on the Quality Control page. This helps to quickly spot interviews that may need your attention.

What can you do with flagged interviews?

You can review these flagged interviews later and decide whether to approve or reject them after evaluating the quality of each interview.

Recommended method to use this feature:

  • Ensure your questionnaire script is approved.

  • Run a few test interviews using the test links. This helps you understand how long respondents typically take to answer questions.

  • Download the audit logs for these test interviews to review the median duration for each test respondent to find a reasonable value.

  • Using the audit logs, determine the preferred min and max interview thresholds.

  • Set your preferred thresholds depending on your requirements:

    • You can set only a minimum median interview duration value.

    or

    • Only a maximum value.

    or

    • Both minimum and maximum values.

How to set the thresholds?

You can find this new feature in Setup Survey / Fieldwork tab:

Note: If you don't set any median duration values, the system won't flag any respondent. Everything will work the same as before.

New endpoint for importing Landing page

We have created new endpoint to import the Landing page using the Public API:

POST v1/surveys/{surveyId}/landingPage

As an example, for the Europe region more information can be found on the Nfield API Help page.

Public API - extended support for basic token authentication

In our Nfield update of 9 December 2024, we introduced a new POST/Token endpoint, which returns a bearer token. We also announced we would be supporting the basic token authentication (using the POST v/1/signIn endpoint) until 1 July 2025.

In the meantime, we are developing a new Nfield Public API SDK, which will also work with the new POST/Token endpoint. More information on this will follow in the coming weeks.

Considering these developments, we are extending support for basic token authentication (using POST v/1/signIn) at least until the end of 2025.
