On Tuesday, 23 January, we will release a new version of Nfield. This update contains a notification about an upcoming new feature; the Interview Simulator, an addition to the Nfield Public API, and about several smaller improvements.
Interview Simulator
We are currently in the process of developing a new feature known as the "Interview Simulator" in the Nfield Manager. This upcoming functionality will allow you to generate simulated data for the survey. This feature's main goal is to let you check if the questionnaire script and the data are valid prior to starting fieldwork.
How is this feature different from current NIPO ODIN Developer's dummy data generation?
The Interview Simulator supports quotas, stratification, *GETLFQLIST, reports, hints and many other survey functionalities, some of which are not available in the NIPO ODIN Developer. Moreover, this feature will run within the Nfield Manager, so there will be no need to switch to another application (like the NIPO ODIN Developer).
Beta testing
The new functionality is currently only available on beta domains, and we kindly request your help in testing and providing feedback to us on this new feature. If you are interested in taking part in the beta testing phase, please contact the NIPO Helpdesk team to get access.

Release planning
We are aiming to release to production in the second quarter of 2024. You will receive a further update in coming Nfield updates on the complete/full rollout of this feature.

Extending the Nfield Public API
Based on the requests from customers, we have added a new endpoint:
GET v1/Surveys/{surveyId}/Sample/{interviewId}.
With this endpoint, it is now possible to get a single sample record for the specified survey.
As an example, for the Europe region more information can be found on the Nfield API Help Page.

NfieldChicago template
On Tuesday 23 January we will update the NfieldChicago template in your domain. This update contains the following:
•
We have improved the user experience for the Swipe Cards feature. Especially on smaller (Android) devices, the user will have an easier swiping experience.
Miscellaneous
•
Warning: since it is not supported in Nfield, *NOTBACK command generates a warning for some time now. We did not make it an error to give our users so time to make the needed changes. We feel we can now move ahead, and change the warning into an error, effectively preventing the script from being published if you use this command. You can still use the legacy parser for now if you do not wish to change your script and want to get it to field as-is. This is against our recommendation though.

An issue with the multiple "OR" filters in the Nfield Manager sample table page has been resolved. Previously, only the first filter was considered. The second was ignored.
•
An issue in Nfield CAPI that caused custom response codes to behave differently when defined (only) at the domain level versus (also) at the survey level was fixed.

As always, please share this information with all relevant people in your organization.
