On Tuesday 24 May we will release a new version of Nfield. This update contains a new version of the Nfield CAPI app, and a reminder about the schedule of deprecation for the CAPI Manager.

Nfield CAPI app

With this release we have addressed several parts of the Nfield CAPI app:
|

We fixed an issue with the manual installation of the app with Android version 11.
|
|
•
|
|
Made this version align with the coming release of Sampling Points with Addresses created in the Nfield Manager.
|
|
|
The latest version of the Nfield CAPI app in Google Play will now be version 2.22.

Nfield CAPI surveys management through the Nfield Manager and deprecation of the CAPI Manager
|
With this release, CAPI surveys with Sampling Points and Addresses and CAPI surveys with Sampling Points, Addresses, and Quotas can be managed from the Nfield Manager.
If you are using surveys of these survey types, we suggest you start creating and managing new surveys of these types in the Nfield Manager instead of the CAPI Manager. You can also migrate your current surveys of these types into the Nfield Manager.
The Nfield Manager is richer in functionality compared with the CAPI Manager. You can, for instance, create and upload Sampling Points and Addresses in it: something that was not possible in the Classic Manager. When using the Nfield Manager, you should not need to use other tools, such as NfieldTool, for your day-to-day management of surveys of these types. However, if you want to, you can still use your tools since the Nfield Public API has not changed.
By mid-July, the Nfield Public API will be changed so that all CAPI surveys that are created through the Nfield Public API will have to be managed only through the Nfield Manager. At the same time, the CAPI Manager will no longer allow creation of new surveys of any survey type anymore.
The CAPI Manager will be removed by mid-August. From that moment on, the Nfield Manager will be the only place to go to for managing all (Online and CAPI) surveys.
As always, we advise you to use the latest Nfield CAPI client app for your CAPI fieldwork. With the move to the Nfield Manager, this is no different. If you are not using the latest CAPI client app, some functionality may not be available to you and some functionality may work slightly different than what you might expect.
