Manual Installation and Updates
Manual installation and updates are not recommended for the NIPO Fieldwork System. However, files for manual installation and updates are provided with the release.
To perform a manual installation of the NIPO Fieldwork System
- For an update of an existing NIPO Fieldwork System installation, make sure to review the list of NIPO Fieldwork System components that no longer work on some operating systems. If there are any software components currently installed on operating systems that have been dropped, you are advised to either upgrade the operating system(s) or postpone installation of the NIPO Fieldwork System.
- Run the installer for the Visual Studio 2010 C Run-Time Libraries on all workstations using NIPO Software products.
- Create or update the database using the provided database script. Note that a number of tables have been added in support of NIPO SurveyDirect. These tables are not in use until the (optional) future installation and configuration of NIPO SurveyDirect.
- Refer to Technical Reference articles for details on manually installing each component.
- If not using NIPO SurveyDirect, switch off access to NIPO SurveyDirect features in the NIPO FMS (Configure > Permissions... For all profiles and users, disable NIPO SurveyDirect).
A new Java Runtime engine is required for the NIPO ODIN Developer. Below are the steps to install or update the NIPO ODIN Developer.
To perform a manual installation of the NIPO ODIN Developer
- Refer to the NIPO Fieldwork System Technical Reference for details on manually installing the NIPO ODIN Developer.
- Download the Sun Java Runtime Engine 6. Extract the files to a folder of choice.
- In the folder where the NIPO ODIN Developer files were extracted, edit the file
NIPOSYS.INI. In the [Developer] section, add the key JRE=<java path>bin\client\jvm.dll where <java path> is the folder where you extracted the Sun Java Runtime Engine files.
