Assuming an installation that includes all components of the NIPO Fieldwork System, the image below displays the hardware and software in use for a typical installation.

Full NIPO CATI / Web configuration with dialer and web server

Components for all installations

• NIPO CATI / Web Master and NIPO FMS Server
• Microsoft SQL Database Server
• NIPO CATI / Web Manager and NIPO FMS
• NIPO ODIN Developer

Components for CATI

• NIPO CATI Client
• Dialer / TAPI (optional)

Components for CAWI

• NIPO ODIN Web Server
• Mail server
• Company Firewall (optional, strongly recommended)
• DMZ (Demilitarized Zone - optional, strongly recommended)

Note that switch-mode surveys require both NIPO CATI and NIPO CAWI components.

Configuration of a dialer, a mail server, a database server, a firewall and a DMZ are not in the scope of this documentation.
