Nfield Code Version 1.1

Working with Teams

Some surveys come with massive amounts of open-ended answers. Although Nfield Code allows you to commence the coding process long before the fieldwork period has ended, coders may be hard pressed to meet the customer's deadline in time. Nfield Code facilitates speeding up the coding process by providing a teaming function which allows you to spread tasks such as coding or translation across several team members. Teaming can also be used to send sets of open-ended answers to translators for translation.

In Nfield Code, teaming works by splitting off parts of the coding project in separate files that can each be opened and coded by an assigned coder. Such files may contain selections of open-ended answers on any criteria. For example, you can split the teaming work in open-ended answers based one or more question, respondents or even arbitrarily. After a team member has finished the task of coding their assignment of open-ended answers, their teaming file may be re-imported into the main project.

Open-ended answers that have been exported for coding by team members will be locked for coding actions until the teaming files have been re-imported. At all times, the project overviews provide information on which open-ended answers as well as which questions and respondents have at least one open-ended answer that is Locked For Teaming.

The main project file from which open-ended answers are split maintains the file extension .nfcp. The teamed files have the extension *.team.
