Email Delay Settings

Some Internet Service Providers limit the number of Emails that they accept from a specific Email address. The number of Emails is limited in time. This avoids their server being used for spam purposes, and avoids their server being blocked by hosts because of spam. Emails exceeding the limit are dropped and depending on the configuration of the mail server, the sender may even be (temporarily) blocked or banned from sending messages through the server.

To avoid this problem, you can set a time delay between emails that are sent from the FMS Server. This is especially useful when sending bulk email, for instance invitations or reminders. The default is no delay, in other words, unlimited amount of emails are sent per unit of time.

To set an email delay

  1. Select Configure > Options… from the menu and select the Email tab.
  2. Enter a time delay for Min. time interval between e-mail (msec).
  3. Below this box, the amount of Emails that can be sent per minute and hour is shown, based on the new time delay.
  4. Click OK to save the new setting.

Note:
Extensive usage of the warm hand-over may not match the slower send rate. If for example the interval is set to 3 seconds (20 mails per minute) and 30 interviewers do a warm-handover screening where they can handle 1 respondent per minute on average, they do not get a higher rate than 20 interviewers per minute instead of 30 since interviewers must wait until the mail is sent out and received by the respondent.
